AAPITA Supports
State Academic Senate
Resolution on Disaggregated Data

DEI Task Force Report.png

As the largest system of higher education in the country with more than 2.1 million students attending 116 colleges, the California Community Colleges serve the most diverse student population of any system of higher education in the state. A commitment to Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion enriches the vision of equity outlined in the Vision for Success and fosters an inclusive, anti-racist campus culture.

Shout out to former AAPITA Vice Chair Rowena Tomaneng for serving on the DEI Implementation Workgroup. Kudos to AAPITA members Sue Chan, Debbie Ikeda, Cindi Reiss and Linda Wah for serving on additional work groups to operationalize the DEI Task Force's recommendations.

Conference Raises Awareness of Asian American Native Hawaiian Pacific Islander Communities

Rowena Tomaneng writes  about her experience at the Asian Pacific Americans in Higher Education (APAHE) annual conference, where over 600 educators and students gathered in-person in Long Beach, CA for the first time since the pandemic. This year's theme Movement: Asian and Pacific Islanders (API) focused on APAHE's history of working towards racial equity for AAPI communities.
